Collecting proverbs and quotes is one of my hobbies. My largest collections are on insects and fruits, but as you will see I have several other collections. Come back soon for my new collection of quotes about axes. Here is a preview:
"Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms."
My largest collection is the one with proverbs and quotes about insects and spiders. Here is an example:
"Like a moth in clothing, or a maggot in wood, sorrow gnaws at the human heart."
The Harry Potter books are full of insects and spiders so I started collecting quotes from these books. For example:
"This is the most complicated potion I've ever seen." said Hermione, as they scanned the recipe. "Lacewing flies, leeches, fluxweed and knotgrass," she murmured, running her fingers down the list of ingredients.
This is a smaller collection of proverbs with spiders. For example:
"When spiders unite, they can tie down a lion."
A large collection of proverbs and quotes on fruits. For example:
"I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice." (Abraham Lincoln)

Reading Sherlock Holmes you will discover some gems to be quoted. For example:
"To a great mind, nothing is little."
I read The Hobbit several times and noted down some phrases and quotes that I liked best. For example about Elrond:
"He was as noble and fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer."
On my website about mead (honey wine) I have a small collection of proverbs and quotes about honey and bees. For example:
It's easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar.
